Some of you will remember me hinting at a new book for youth that I’d be bringing out soon. The hint came several years ago, and the delay has been one of those ‘First Force, Second Force, Third Force’ situations that I describe in The Mastery Club!
However the delays are sorted and I’m delighted to announce that the new book will be available for purchase very soon. I’m actually speaking at two events this month where I’ll have a few pre-launch copies for sale – you are welcome to join us – but the official launch event will be in the second half of the year when I’m back from my honeymoon (this June).
The title is Quest For Riches – 4 teenagers discover the keys to wealth and prosperity.
It’s a novel written in collaboration with Camilla Mendoza, founder of Money Mastery for Teens, a program that teaches financial literacy to teenagers. Camilla approached me a few years ago because she’d read and loved The Mastery Club and wanted a novel to accompany her courses that would teach some of those principles to young people through story.
Having worked as a business coach for several years she was concerned about the lack of saving and the creeping reliance on credit among young adults and their families. Her own personal growth work had led her to discover that there are four ‘money personalities’ (that roughly equate with the tried and true four temperaments of psychology: the melancholic, choleric, phlegmatic and sanguine), and she wanted me to write a contemporary novel about four teenagers that would reveal these different money personalities at work and simultaneously deliver some financial education. Quest For Riches is about four 15-year-olds who are presented with the opportunity of a school excursion to India.
Who is going to save for it and who is going to expect parents to pay?
