How do you know if the Universe is listening?

Benji Brundin is the author of Hunting Fear – the Adventure of a Lifetime, his fund-raising journey on a motorbike across ten deserts. He’s about to do it again.

He sent me the following story:

“You know I am a big believer in universal laws. I talk about it in my book, often without directly referring to them. (Hunting Fear, p. 115)

“The universe is still listening. Throughout Covid I toyed with the idea of planning another monumental expedition across the ten deserts, but this time, to lead a team and overcome a whole new set of challenges along the way.

“Finally, after a lot of self doubt and trepidation, I announced publicly that I would be doing the ten as a group expedition. No sooner had I put it out there, than the perfect expedition truck fell in my lap: a 6×6 ex-army truck designed specifically for crossing deserts with cargo. Only 600 were ever made.

“As I pondered how I would be able to afford the truck one afternoon in traffic, I got a call from a random number. Sam from Maclean Financial was just checking in to see if I still wanted the finance I had enquired about nearly six months previously. And would you believe, the pre-approved amount was exactly what I needed for the truck!

“But I wasn’t sure. I decided to go to the gym and come back to it later. An hour later I walked out and what was parked out the front? A 6×6 truck, same model as ‘mine’. I had never even  seen one on the road before. I left my number on the windscreen and later that night I got a call from Dave.

“Ex-army mechanic with 23 years’ experience working on these trucks who lived less than 10 kilometres from my house. He could not say a bad thing about them and will be joining us now in the field.

“Seven days later I had a giant truck in my driveway and a big cheesy grin on my face!

“The shots keep coming through. I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been a challenging six months trying to get this whole thing together, but I know that’s just the Universe testing me, to see if I really am committed. But all the right people keep showing up at all the right times. For instance, now i have met Liz, an ex-nurse who will be in country with us. Her current job fell through and we had to push back the expedition date. Now she is coming on board to help with sponsorship and exposure. The stars have aligned.

“We are  not there yet but I have faith in the process and the universe keeps delivering. I have no idea how it will all come together, but I just have faith.

“This is the right path for me. In the past, doors kept closing; now I seem to keep finding ways forward. I don’t know how, but the path will reveal itself and I just have to keep moving forward with what the universe throws at me.

“Sponsorship, support, exposure, adventure – it’s all coming.”

– Very exciting! I’m looking forward to editing this second book of Benji’s. And if you haven’t yet read the first one, go to https://daring2venture.com.au

I’ll be eagerly-anxiously awaiting feedback to my first draft, but I’ve got to say that the process of writing my musical has been wonderful. Aside from all the fascinating research into health – the topic of the musical – the thing I most love about the writing process is stepping off into the unknown and having all sorts of synchronous things happen that deliver just the piece of information I need when I need it. That is magical.

This is my first musical. I’ve written half a dozen short plays, three of which have been performed in amateur theatre, and one song that is close to being recorded, but this is my first musical and it called for a heap of songs. I suspect that I’ll be doing a pretty massive rewrite when the feedback comes in! But painful as that might be, it will only be good for me. I recall working with some actors in about 1990 on a play I’d written. They cut close to three-quarters of the dialogue, but it was much better when they’d finished with it, and I learnt a lot – despite the pain!

Our My Place Jimboomba meetings are going from strength to strength. I’ve managed to attract a phenomenal team of 12 to be the steering committee, and our participant numbers have jumped from 43 at the first event to 80 at our fourth event last Friday. We’ve had two guest speakers, both addressing fairly confronting issues, and with a mixed audience we anticipate plenty of disagreement! However there is a wonderful buzz and it’s a joy to come together regularly with aligned community.

My Place groups are getting some unsavoury media attention, but we all know how untrustworthy the mainstream media is, right? So no need to pay too much attention to them! (NB. A ‘sovereign citizen’ is a contradiction in terms, so they really don’t know what they’re talking about.)

I’ll be sharing some more important links and recommendations next time. Meanwhile, take care of yourself and those around you, take a risk, and take yourself more lightly!

With love,

Liliane
