So… the Business Coach I am working with saw my last newsletter about the Tarot reading and mentioned that he would have interpreted my cards quite differently.
Several hours later, we had arrived at an interpretation that sat with me much more comfortably and was almost the reverse of the first one. (By ‘comfortably’, I don’t mean that it kept me in my comfort zone, but that it resonated more deeply. I’m still called to face challenges and grow.)

The Temperance card remains clear: the need for balance and moderation.
The second interpretation added this distinction: I’ve been too outcome-focused and need to allow for unexpectedness and some meandering. Ditto the musical itself: for balance there needs to be more emotional depth balancing the ‘intellectual message’.
The King of Swords was interpreted the first time as telling me I must use my head and not my heart. As I had just received sobering feedback to my musical, and I knew that some of those comments were spot-on, I thought, ‘Yes, I have to suck it up. Don’t indulge myself but take it on the chin. “Kill your darlings”, as the writer’s adage goes.’
Interpretation #2 was: ‘You’re very intelligent but out of touch with your feelings. Your intellect is causing challenges. There is magic in letting go and trusting.’ As I have a tendency to think my way through things, I know that my big life challenge is actually to trust and connect with my feelings… So this interpretation resonated much more ‘truly’. I also need to bring more emotional depth into the musical itself; right now, it’s too didactic, too focused on the message I want to share, so I do still have to ‘kill some darlings’, but the second interpretation was more nourishing.
The Tower Card was interpreted the first time as the rug being pulled out from under me and therefore this musical was not a project I should prioritise. It certainly felt like that, with half the team stepping away from the project, but we all know that unexpected changes of that type are often for the best.
Interpretation #2 was: ‘There is something you need to let go of; renovation is called for. You need to destroy the old to make way for something new, for rebirth.’ This also resonated and was a more encouraging perspective. Despite the first advice, I had not stepped away from the musical as it wasn’t in my heart to do so. (I was trusting my heart on that!)
In case you’re thinking, a Tarot reader shouldn’t tell you what to do, well, yeah… My business coach, Michael McGowan, is of the same opinion. His role as the reader is to explore the energies being revealed to the client, rather than to tell the client what to do.
Three of Cups (first interpretation) was telling me to write a youth romance… The second interpretation was that I need to reconnect with the joy of writing. Amen to that. It was spot on. I have a tendency to prioritise everything over my own chief calling.
The Page of Cups was telling me that a childlike preference to indulge myself would bring me down, and I needed the cool King-of-Swords mentality. The second interpretation was that I needed to love and value the inner child; to trust my emotional truth even when it seems to take me down the ‘wrong path’, because the detours serve us too.
The Five of Pentacles in version #1 was that the musical was ‘stuck’ and not for now. In version #2, the perspective was to be unattached to material loss and have faith in myself.
‘Nuff said. There was more but that will do. My lesson? A Tarot reading must resonate and provide a sense of possibility and of inspiring direction; if it weighs on me heavily, it’s not quite right.
I hope this was useful to you.

Another reversal
In my last e-newsletter/blog I shared a website called ‘www.safegen.com.au‘. I’ve been advised by Peter Fan of Maat’s Method that the entrepreneur in question is a ‘government nanny’ and parents should not necessarily trust what he is offering. 🤷🏻♀️
I ‘just wanted to help’ by sharing information that may be useful, but equally, it might not be. As we say at our MyPlace Jimboomba meetings, ‘Do your own research! Everything shared here is for entertainment purposes only.’ 😄
